The hospitality available in London just got better with the opening of the luxurious Dorsett City Aldgate Hotel. The new hotel respects modern standards from top to bottom, so if you decide to stay here while in London, then you will certainly not be disappointed. I had the chance to enjoy staying at this hotel and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. Thus, in the following lines, I will share my experience, opinions, and details I noticed while at the hotel, as I think that you also deserve to know what your options are when looking for accommodation in London.
First of all, I must make reference to the location of this hotel. It is extremely conveniently placed, right in the center of the city, next door to Aldgate station and 2 minutes from the East Aldgate Station. Thus, you can easily get around London quickly after stepping out of the hotel, as well as enjoying the proximity of the shops, restaurants, cafés, and anything else a capital city can offer. Aldgate station will even serve the connection you need to reach the Heathrow airport, by taking you to Paddington station where you can take the Heathrow Express, which is the train that will take you directly to the airport. This is a hotel that is extremely well-connected to the most important parts of London.
When it comes to my experience, I was impressed from the moment I entered the lobby of the hotel. Dorsett City Aldgate Hotel has only 4 stars, but the luxury the hotel displayed immediately after the entrance point made me think of a 5-star hotel nonetheless. It is also worth mentioning that the hotel has a gym that is open and available to the hotel’s guests around the clock, four meeting rooms that can be used for conferences and other corporate events, two restaurants, and a gorgeous terrace bar on the rooftop which gives you stunning views of London and its skyline. The entire hotel is extremely modern, created and designed according to the latest architectural trends.
The suite I got exceeded my expectations, being created and decorated so that it suits even the pickiest of guests. Called the Simba Suite, it was decorated in an Asian style with elegant British accents. The furniture was amazing and I loved the classy and comfortable sofa that was almost inviting me to sit down and relax. The salon was a separated enclosure, which is great if you have guests, and it was equipped with a large TV, a Nespresso machine at your discretion, plus everything you may need to prepare the perfect cup of tea. In the bedroom, a large and comfortable Simba bed awaits you, together with a beautiful desk and all the plugs you need to carry on with your work if necessary. Also, the suite is equipped with a separate Internet connection that allows you to comfortably control the sound system. Besides this, there is a free Handy Smartphone to utilize even outside the hotel, with an unlimited Internet connection, travel guide installed, and call credit so you can make a call if necessary. Plus the bathroom is not just practical and modern, but also very elegant and luxurious. Covered in marble, with gold-plated elements and high-quality personal care products, it is easy to feel like a king or queen every time you enter the bathroom.
After saying all this, what more can you expect from a hotel ? The Dorsett City Aldgate Hotel truly represents the future of hospitality, as it understands the current needs of the modern traveler. Whether you are coming to London for business or pleasure, you will have everything you need to get around the city (plus outstanding accommodation) by choosing to stay at this hotel. In case you are wondering how the breakfast is, I will tell you that I ate it at the hotel’s Chinese restaurant. However, don’t worry if you’re not too into Chinese food, as you can choose to enjoy a full English breakfast buffet, just as it is served throughout the UK. Still, I decided to opt for the Chinese breakfast option, enjoying fresh hot dumplings and Dim Sum, which was extremely delicious and light at the same time – the perfect way to start a day. However, in spite of the fact that the food was great, there were some things I couldn’t find available in the hotel’s breakfast buffet. I am talking about quality cheese and freshly-squeezed fruit juices. These are not available, even if you want to pay extra for them.
You probably remember the part in which I told you that there is a terrace on the rooftop of the hotel. Well, I couldn’t just leave without trying it. Located on the 14th floor, the rooftop bar called “Jin Bo Law” offers breathtaking views of London while you’re enjoying something to drink; it’s worth mentioning that their Spritz is great. You have direct access to the bar with the help of the elevator, as it is available to other customers too who are not guests of the hotel. Made according to the model of rooftop bars in Hong Kong and Shanghai, it is possible to forget that you are in London due to this new approach. Also made according to the latest trends and using luxurious materials like marble, the Jin Bo Law bar offers an exotic menu of cocktails which are inspired by Asia.
As an ending note, I would like to mention another interesting part of the hotel, represented by its restaurants, Sikumen and VQ. Sikumen is a Chinese restaurant while VQ on the ground floor of the hotel is more Western, with burgers, 24-hour breakfast, and brasserie dishes. So if you are in the mood for Chinese food or burgers, you really don’t have to go out of the hotel. All in all, it was a great experience to stay at this hotel and I will definitely not miss the chance to come back next time I visit London. I loved the modern decor and the fact that you had facilities that many present-day hotels don’t, plus the rooftop bar which provides one with arguably the best views in the city.
