In very rare cases you manage to feel a warm and cozy experience when being housed in a hotel, something similar to when you visit the house of a friend. My wife and I were delighted for getting the chance to stay at the Henri Hotel in Hamburg, a hotel established in our modern days, but with a small team determined to make each guest feel like visiting a close friend during their stay. It was impossible not to notice the beautiful vintage décor (you really feel like entering another world; certainly Helmut Schmidt would have felt at home here, as the hotel recreates perfectly those glorious days).
During our stay at the Henri Hotel, we had a large suite-type room L studio, with very many vintage and funny details, things like an old black phone (it was even working, so we could call reception if we needed). The furniture was also very beautiful, vintage as well, making us feel like being in a cozy home rather than in a hotel. In our 30 sq. meters L studio we enjoyed a tea pot, an Italian espresso vintage machine already equipped with good coffee. The bathroom was highly functional, providing a real rain shower that was extremely relaxing at the end of the day.
The location of the hotel is more than great, being just minutes away from the local railway station and S1 line for reaching the airport in 25 minutes. Believe it or not, having all of these so close will allow you to save a lot of money, taxis in Hamburg being rather expensive, so you can easily use public transportation instead. Also, the vicinity of the railway station doesn’t mean that you’ll be housed in the outskirts of the city. In fact, we were near Hamburg’s downtown, ideal location for shopping including luxury shopping spots and visit a lot, with numerous bars and restaurants to choose from within a walking distance, so we never had the chance to get bored.
We really liked the staff members and how they treated us. They were all very nice, helpful, and did their best to make us feel comfortable. Both the lobby and breakfast areas were beautiful as well, the staff doing their job flawlessly here as well. We had access to the cooking area, where you can also enjoy a drink rather than having an expensive filled mini-bar in the room. There is one, of course, but it was empty, as we choose our drinks or snacks anytime we wanted in the lobby.
For breakfast, the Henri Hotel provides more like a salon with a kitchen, this approach will indeed make you feel at home. We really enjoyed the breakfast, having delicious food in a pleasant atmosphere. We got scrambled eggs, bacon, excellent cheese, and so many pastry assortments. The quality of the food was pretty good and we had our breakfast in a relaxed manner.
In few words, one of the best boutique hotel in Hamburg and a good choice for a citytrip or a longer stay in the city.
