Citrus Etoile by Chef Gilles Epié – a must for all foodies in Paris

The concept behind the food in this restaurant is quite intriguing: the core staple of French gastronomy makes its way across the world and, like a seasoned traveller getting wiser, brings something new and exciting back home from each adventure. The excellent food is complemented by an extensive collection of wine which can be purchased by the glass, unlike many other restaurants in Paris which will only sell it by the bottle.



Our “a la carte” experience started with some delicious tapas and a nice selection of bread. We then moved onto a starter of smoked boneless Sardines Royales served with Israeli couscous and spicy lemon comfit vinaigrette—an exquisite blend of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours. Next, we had a Guilvinec Langoustine Carpaccio, expertly marinated with sweet spices, lychees, java black long pepper and olive oil. This was all washed down with some excellent Pouilly Fumé 2013 (from Eric Bardin), which complemented the foods we were sampling perfectly!

We continued with a main of Royal Sea Bream, together with fresh peas, squid and an unforgettable veal jus. The fish was perfectly cooked and the wine, a Marsannay 2012 burgundy from Philippe Nadeff, drew out all of the subtle flavour of the fish.

The dessert, a Soufflé Air du Temps flavoured with orange blossom was a masterpiece of French cooking and is a difficult dish for even the best of chefs. It was the finest soufflé I have had in ages.

The vibrant food combined with the relaxed and discrete setting of Citrus Etoile is an ideal venue, whether you are looking for a special place to take your date or just want to meet up with colleagues for a business lunch. It is a must for all foodies on a leisure visit to Paris and also worth mentioning that the restaurant offers a great lunch deal that allows diners to experience 3 seasonal courses for only 49 Euros per person.
